Fitbit Versa 4 and Sense 2 photos leak

The Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2 have been leaked online – and we now have an idea of what to expect from the two smartwatches.

The Versa 3 and Sense – which share most of the same visual hardware and design cues – launched in 2020, so an update was a long time coming.

Now, a report from 9to5Google has revealed leaked photos (below) of their successors, and some details of features we could see.

The two photos published by 9to5Google are intended to show the two smartwatches – showing the Fitbit Sense case with a metal bezel used for ECG recording.

In terms of design, the devices don’t seem to have changed much – and the report indicates that tires from the older devices will work on the new ones. So visually this seems like a minimal update.

However, the shots do show a physical button on the right, rather than a touch-sensitive haptic zone. We found that hit and miss on the previous Versa 3/Sense, so we’d like to find something more reliable.

That’s the only info so far – so since little seems to be changing in terms of design and hardware, we’re hoping for some juicy new features.

We suspected a successor was coming after references to the smartwatches were found in the source code of the Android Fitbit app.

Fitbit has been active in launching new software features across its range – and the existing Versa range (all the way up to Versa 2) has just received continuous, passive EKG monitoring. That’s great for Fitbit users past and present, but it’ll be interesting to see what features the Versa 4/Sense 2 can boast of when they launch.

So what about the release dates. The same report says Fitbit is targeting a spring 2022 launch. The clock is ticking.
