Man dead after shooting in Scarborough Plaza parking lot

A man has died after an early morning shooting in a square in Scarborough.

Toronto police responded to shots fired after an altercation in a plaza parking lot on Morningside and Sheppard Avenues around 3 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found two victims with gunshot wounds.

Both victims were taken to hospital, but a man in his 30s was pronounced dead shortly afterwards, police said.

A man in his twenties suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they are looking for one suspect, but have not released a description.

“There were a number of people who were here when the police arrived. Emergency services arrived, also paramedics were all there very, very quickly and provided assistance to the victims. And so we were able to speak to many people who were in the area at the time, but we’re calling on anyone with information to come forward, because anything helps,” Service Superintendent Jeff Bassingthwaite said at the scene.

Anyone with information or dash camera footage is asked to contact the police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
