The Multiverse got its first look at Natalie Portman with an Asgardian armor, Mjölnir (that is the hammer) fixed, and next to Chris Hemsworth in a production still from Thor: Love and Thunderwhich will hit theaters in early July.
The image came in Empire Magazine alongside an interview with the film’s director and co-writer Taika Waititi† He said that Portman’s character, Dr. Jane Foster, who hasn’t appeared in a Marvel movie since 2013 Thor: The Dark World, will mean a big change for the hammer-wielding Avenger. (Silence, comic book nerds. Old images repurposed in Avengers: Endgame does not count as appearances!)
“It’s been about eight years,” he said. “She’s had a very different life, and then the love of your life comes back on the scene, and is now dressed like you. It’s a real mind fuck for Thor.”
Why is Portman dressed as Thor, you ask? Well, if the film follows the blueprint of the 2015 comic book series written by Jason AaronFoster actually is becoming Thor, now known as the goddess of thunder! Drink deep from your mead cup before learning the story!
As for the return of Oscar-winning Portman, Waititi, whose comedic sensibility added a new dimension to… Thor: Ragnarok, said that “Natalie is really funny in real life.” He added: “She’s a little goofy and has a great sense of humor, and I don’t think that was exploited enough in the first movies.”
Reactions to the image were received mildly, perhaps even ignored –in a parallel universe!
Where we currently live, people were understandably excited, and, great Odin, have you? watched on her arms?
