Police officer in Torrance arrested for child porn: LAPD

A police officer has been arrested and charged with uploading child pornography to a social media site, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Evan Robert Dahl, a 23-year-old Torrance resident, was arrested Friday after the LAPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force was alerted in March by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that “child sexual abuse material (CSAM) had been uploaded.” from an unknown address in Torrance using a social media platform,” the LAPD said in a press release.

LAPD and Torrance police identified Dahl, a former police officer, as the suspect, and he was arrested for possession of child sexual abuse material, police said.

“On May 6, 2022, LAPD ICAC Task Force investigators issued a search warrant at several locations in Torrance, including Dahl’s residence, where evidence was seized,” police said.

Torrance Police Department released a statement Friday night announcing that the department is “aware of the disturbing allegations that led to Evan Dahl’s arrest,” adding that “Evan Dahl no longer works for Torrance Police.” .

“We have and will continue to cooperate with LAPD’s investigation. As this case is an ongoing criminal investigation, we must refer any additional questions to the LAPD,” ​​the statement said.

Dahl was cited and released, prison records show, and is due to appear in Los Angeles municipal court on June 3.
