Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoCs launched for upcoming Android flagships

Qualcomm has unveiled new processors for future high-end and mid-range flagships. There is the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 called Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Please note, it is Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and not Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. Then there’s the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 as a follow-up to the Snapdragon 778G chipset. While Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is made on a TSMC 4nm node, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is made on a Samsung 4nm process. They both come with improved power efficiency and performance (for SD 7 Gen 1, especially in the gaming area).

Here are the details –

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Specifications and Features

Snapdragon 8+ gen 1

Qualcomm has increased the clock speeds of the cores, including the graphics core. So, here’s what the chip layout looks like now: 1x Cortex-X2 Prime Core @ 3.2GHz, 3x Cortex-A710 Performance Core @ 2.8GHz and 4x Cortex-A510 Efficiency Core @ 2.0GHz frequency . This is coupled with the Adreno GPU with a 10% performance gain over the predecessor.

The chipmaker also boasts 10% faster CPU performance and a total of up to 30% more power efficiency than the last-gen chip.

The rest of the setup is pretty much the same as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Qualcomm’s customers for this chip are Asus ROG, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Motorola, iQOO, Black Shark, Honor, Lenovo, etc.
