Sharon Stone reveals she’s had nine miscarriages

The Basic Instinct actress has spoken out boldly on the matter for the first time.

Sharon Stone has spoken out boldly about suffering nine miscarriages.

The Basic Instinct star opened up about her experience of losing babies in a heartbreaking Instagram post.

“We women have no forum to discuss the gravity of this loss. I lost nine children to a miscarriage,” Stone said.

“It is no small matter, physically or emotionally. Yet we get the sense that it is something to wear alone and in secret with a kind of sense of failure. Instead of receiving the much-needed compassion and empathy and healing that we so desperately need.

“The health and well-being of women left in the care of male ideology has become lax at best, in fact ignorant and violently oppressive in their efforts.”

Stone has three adopted sons, Roan, 22, Laird, 16, and Quinn, 15.

She was approved to adopt her oldest son while on her way home after a miscarriage.

Last year, Stone spoke of the agony of going through “36 hours of labor” after losing a baby who was five and a half months pregnant.

She told BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour it was a truly “devastating experience”.

“When I lost my last baby, and then went back to the hospital and had to work 36 hours alone to give birth, of course – and the nurses who had been with me two days earlier at the hospital when she had the last baby came in and sat with me on their day off.

“I really felt such a strong sense of sisterhood and understanding. Because then I would have been alone. And that’s such a lonely feeling anyway.”

Stone previously said she had suffered several miscarriages while married to Phil Bronstein, whom she divorced in 2004.
