The victim’s husband is charged with committing the murder and is in the custody of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
According to deputies, they received a call around 8:40 a.m. from 39-year-old Benjamin Pierce, who told them he had stabbed his wife.
The incident took place at a house on the 3200 block of Painted Meadow Circle, near Fry Road.
At the scene, officers found a family member and a 7-year-old boy unharmed. The boy was at home at the time of the stabbing, police said.
Deputies said the couple argued over a divorce and custody battle before an altercation, which led to Leslie Ann Pierce being stabbed in the foyer of the house.
She was pronounced dead on the spot.
In information released hours after the incident, officers say the boy may have witnessed the attack.
“This has been an extradentary year for domestic violence, this surfeit of homicides that we’ve had that were related to domestic violence,” said Representative Thomas Gilliland. “I think it seems a bit more than usual lately.”
Deputies said the 7-year-old was released to family members.
Benjamin Pierce was incarcerated in Harris County Jail on murder charges.
