This is one of the cheapest places to rent in Vancouver, as long as you’re not claustrophobic – BC News

Vancouver’s smallest rental?

We all know Vancouver’s rental market is tight, but this takes “tight” to a new level (because a mattress fits snugly in it).

While most rooms are measured in feet, this one is measured in inches. It is 70 inches by 62 inches.

That’s about 5 feet 10 inches by 5 feet 2 inches. The bed of a pickup truck, such as a Ford 150, is significantly larger, as are new prison cells. In short, it is small.

According to this list of current NBA players, only one (Isaiah Thomas) could sleep here, and barely (it’s a good thing he keeps his hair short).

Another way to look at it is the mattress size. A mattress size table has only one that would fit this room without getting crushed. It’s a crib. All other standard sizes are a minimum of 74.5 inches, leaving 4.5 inches to get stuck in one way or another.

While some may find the size an issue, it is also windowless. For anyone who is claustrophobic, this probably isn’t the room for you.

At $750 a month, it is one of the cheaper places to live in the city. The average rent for single apartments in Canada is more than double at $1,888, while in Vancouver it is more than triple at $2,377, so cost will likely be a motivating factor for people interested in the room.

Like the location; the person who posted the ad on Craigslist writes that it is close to the core of the city.

“The building is located right in the center and just a 3-minute walk from the Stadium Skytrain station,” they write.

They also note that there is only one other person in the studio style apartment.

“You can also use other parts of the studio,” they note.
