We tinker with Christmas packaging

Christmas packaging: the role

We need:
• Wax paper
• Decorative paper (wrapping or scrapbook type)
• Double-sided adhesive tape
• Decorative tape (gift wrap or fabric)

Step 1
Cut a piece of waxed paper 14 inches (35 cm) long and place it on a work surface.

Step 2
Place a row of cookies on the waxed paper, as close to the edge of the sheet as possible. Roll until the end of the paper. Fold at the ends of the roll.

Step 3
To finish, cut decorative paper 8 inches (20 cm) longer than the cookie roll; place the roll in the center of the paper and roll; seal everything with double-sided tape. Tie the ends with a ribbon, to make it look like a huge candy!

Christmas packaging: the egg box

We need:
• Plastic or Styrofoam egg carton
• Decorative paper (wrapping or scrapbook type paper)
• Mini muffin cups
• Cellophane paper
• Ribbon (gift wrap or fabric)

Step 1
Wash the egg carton in hot, soapy water. Insert mini muffin cups in each of the twelve cups and add small sweet bites.

Step 2
Trace the shape of the box lid on the back of the decorative paper. Cut and glue the paper to the top of the lid. This step can be repeated to place the paper inside the lid of the box.

Variation
We can completely cut out the lid and wrap our box in cellophane or decorative paper and add a ribbon to tie the paper.

Christmas packaging: the brown paper bag

We need:
• Brown paper bag
• Wax paper
• Scissors
• Awl
• Decorative tape •
Sewing needle
• String
• X-acto knife
• Glue stick

Step 1
Place waxed paper in the bottom of the bag so that it goes up the sides, which will prevent grease stains.

Step 2
Cut the top of the bag in an attractive and original way, decorate and punch small holes according to your inspiration of the moment.

Step 3
Then fill the bag with delicious cookies and leave about 1 ¼ inch free to close the bag by folding it.

We add a personalized decorative touch:

With tape: make 1 or 2 holes near the center of the fold of the bag with an awl. Insert a ribbon and tie a pretty bow.

With a sewing needle: draw a lead pencil line half an inch (1 cm) from the top; make stitches every half inch along the line. With a needle to which a ribbon (or string) is inserted, pierce (sew) each time there is a point.

With patterns: Trace a letter or a pattern on the fold of the bag. With an X-acto knife, cut a single layer of paper. Insert stiff cardboard between the thicknesses of the paper to cut only one layer. Gently spread the glue on the back of the cutout and glue decorative paper or colored fabric and you’re done!

Christmas packaging: canned

We will need:
• Empty metal coffee can
• Decorative paper
• Glue stick
• Cellophane paper
• Decorative ribbon

Step 1
Clean the canister in warm soapy water and remove the label.

Step 2
Cut a piece of decorative paper. (Measure the height of the circumference and add 1 inch (2.5 cm) to it so you can go around the can with the paper.)

Step 3
Glue the decorative paper around the can.

Variation
If you don’t have a box with a lid, once filled with cookies, wrap it with cellophane paper and tie it with a decorative ribbon.
